The Premier League is over-flowing with hat-trick heroes.
Pirates win, Supersport bag five
Sundowns can breathe easier
On Wednesday night Supersport United striker Anthony Laffor joinedthe illustrious company of Richard Henyekane and Patrick Malokase.
The Liberian international, who has been capped 26 times for hiscountry, helped Supersport tear Maritzburg United to pieces at theSuper stadium — ending coach Gordon Igesund’s unbeatenrecord with a 5-0 victory.
Now Laffor plans to be on song again when Supersport take on AjaxCape Town tomorrow night at Athlone stadium.
Kick-off is at 8pm.
“It meant a lot for me to have come back (from injury) toscore a hat-trick and I am obviously looking to score moregoals,” said Laffor.
He was quick to play down the fact that he was aiming to be the topmarksman in the PSL come end of the season. He is still three goalsbehind leading scorer Bernard Parker (6), but proved at Wednesdaynight’s game that he could easily equal Parker’s tally.
“I won’t say I am going to be the top goal scorer ofthe league but I have set myself the goal of seeing Supersportsuccessfully defend their championship this season,” he said.
If coach Gavin Hunt decides to again play him in the strikerposition tomorrow night, then the defensive pair of EduardoFerriera and Martin Carelse will be in for a tough night.
Laffor, a former Jomo Cosmos player, has no issues with where Huntplays him. “I partnered with Katlego (Mashego) upfront andthe coach just told us to go out and enjoy ourselves. He (Hunt)told me I can play wherever I want.”
Laffor might even be moved to the left wing seeing that Daine Klatewill be out for more than three months.
Ajax will be hoping Mabhuti Khenyeza shakes off an injury aftermissing the game against Amazulu due to injury.
Another interesting clash is the round two clash between Sundownsand Bay United. The two teams face each other in a league game onSunday.
“Bafana ba style”, as Sundowns are known, will be outto prove a point as they were booted out of the Telkom Knockout bythe same team at the same venue.
Bay suffered a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Platinum Stars onWednesday — leaving the Premier League rookies rooted secondfrom the bottom after five games.
