The following recalls have been announced:
_About 54,500 Fit & Fresh Smooth Blend Mixers, made in China andimported by MEDport LLC, because the mixer can unexpectedly turn onand activate the blade when positioning the cup, posing alaceration hazard to consumers. The company has received one reportof finger lacerations that required medical treatment. The recalledproduct has the item number 770FF and model number SB-19. Affecteddate codes, which are on the bottom of the base, include 2707,4407, 5207 and 0308. The product was sold at Longs, GNC and VitaminShoppe stores nationwide and online from September 2007 throughAugust this year. Details: by phone at 800-858-8840; by Web at http://www.cpsc.gov .
_About 370,000 Homelite chain saws, made in China and imported byHomelite Consumer Products Inc., because the chain brake can failto stop the chain on its first application, posing a risk oflaceration to consumers. No injuries or incidents have beenreported. The recalled Homelite brand chain saws include the modelnumbers UT10514, UT10516, UT10517, UT10518, UT10520, UT10540,UT10560 and UT10918. Affected products have manufacture datesbetween November 2007 and August 2008. The products were sold atHome Depot stores nationwide between December 2007 and October thisyear. They were sold at toy specialty stores in Alaska,California, Colorado, Montana, Nevada, Oregon and Washington fromApril through September this year.
