The School Board will be discussing a variety of issues Thursdaynight.
At the Del Norte County Office of Education and Unified SchoolDistrict Board meetings, board members will discuss American Indianhistory, reading skills, charter school finances, classifiedemployees and each school's plan for achievement.
The board will hear a presentation about Tolowa and Yurokbasket-making. American Indian students and Crescent Elk MiddleSchools honors students can participate in the Preserving Tolowaand Yurok Basketry: Weaving Culture, Techonology, and Museographyinto Community Service project.
The project is headed by the Del Norte County Historical Societyand the Save Our History Grant program.
The two district reading specialists at Joe Hamilton Elementary,Debra Wakefield and Kim Coyen, will talk about interventionstrategies to help struggling students improve their literacyskills.
Margie Rouge and Geneva Wiki, the respective directors of UnchartedShores Academy and Klamath River Early College of the Redwoodscharter schools, will give reports on their schools' enrollment andCalifornia Standards Test results.
They will also detail their 2007-2008 final budgets.
The board will review the classification study completed by anoutside consultant, which outlines employee job descriptions andsalary schedules.

Assistant Superintendent Don Olson will present to the board eachcounty and district school's "Single Plan for Student Achievement."Principals will then report back in January and February on whetherschools are meeting their goals for the year.
