World Bazaar and Marketplace Offers Visitors Glimpse of Exotic ...

New Orleans, LA ( Vocus / PRWEB ) October 28, 2008 -- A cultural gumbo is cooking in New Orleansthis week as arts and crafts from such exotic locations as SouthAfrica, Indonesia and Brazil as well as the works of top artistsfrom the Louisiana Craft Guild will entice Louisiana visitorshungry for a unique experience for the senses.
All can be seen at the World Bazaar and Marketplace to be held from10 a.m. - 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Oct. 31 - Nov. 1 at theErnest N. Morial Convention Center. Admission is free and familiesare encouraged to bring their children to a truly cultural learningexperience. A pair of New Orleans Hornets tickets will be givenaway at the event.
A key component of the World Cultural Economic Forum , hosted by the Lt. Governor's office and the Department ofCulture, Recreation and Tourism, the World Bazaar and Marketplaceoffers visitors an up close experience of cultures across theglobe.
Louisiana artists participating in the Marketplace represent eachof the state's five regions: Cajun Country, Crossroads, Greater NewOrleans, Plantation Country and Sportsman's Paradise. The LouisianaCraft Guild has been instrumental in promoting artistic excellenceand supporting education in the many aspects of craft.
Visitors of all ages will marvel at the skill, technique andmaterials used by both international and Louisiana artists. Aninternational children's art exhibition is sure to attract crowds.The "International Spotlight" stage will highlight livemusic, dance and performances and a contemporary architecturalexhibit will showcase projects from the Czech Republic.
What was only before experienced in museums, books or the Internetcan be seen up close. See the intricate details of hand-madeAfrican jewelry, handcrafted textiles by women of Ghana or NativeAmerican hand-woven baskets and Cajun Folk Art.
