TeleCommunication Systems Inc (TCS) (NasdaqGM: TSYS), a developerand applicator of wireless data communications technology, reportedon 25 September that to provide more Wireless Point-to-Point Link(WPPL) systems for troops deployed in Iraq, the company hasreceived further funding of USD7.8 m from the US Marine Corps.
Marine Corps communicators have a secure point to point within lineof sight or out of sight transmission of voice, video and datacommunications through the TCS WPPL systems. Through the TCS WPPL,communicators extend their Local Area Network (LAN) to remotelocations by providing critical communications services overterrestrial microwave radio links. The TCS WPPL allows forNon-Classified Internet Protocol Router (NIPR), Secret InternetProtocol Router (SIPR), Voice over IP (VoIP), Video and DefenceSwitched Network transmission.
The company's total WPPL funding amounts to USD22m with this orderagainst its US Marine Corps order awarded by the Army ProjectManager for the War fighter Information Network-Tactical (PM WIN-T)Commercial Satellite Terminal Program (CSTP) and through the USArmy's USD5bn World-Wide Satellite Systems (WWSS) contract vehicle.
