Don’t worry parents the only similarity between High SchoolMusical 3 and Grease are the musical numbers and the characters are in high school. Itook my kids to see this movie, but will have to wait a couple ofyears before I let them watch ‘Grease’. Don't get mewrong 'Grease' is a classic, but songs of reproduction, how thechicks will cream, and teen pregnancy are not what I want my eightand nine year old singing at the dinner table.
The kids and I really enjoyed this movie, great songs and awesomedancing. My son and daughter’s favorite part was the song anddance number in the junk yard between Zac Efron (Troy Bolton) and Corbin Bleu (Chad Danforth). My favorite part was the opening number in thegym with the basketball teams, the cheerleaders, and the crowd. Itmade me reminisce about basketball games in my high school days, without the singing and dancing of course.
The Wildcats are now in their senior year in high school. Troy andGabriella (Vanessa Hudgens) struggle with the idea of being separated from one another ascollege approaches. Troy has been offered a basketball scholarshipat the local college as Gabriella is slated to go to Stanford . Along with the rest of the Wildcats, they stage a spring musicalto address their experiences, hopes and fears about their future. But wait… The Julliard School will be attending the spring musical to present anotherscholarship to the lucky candidate. Will it be Troy, Sharpay ( Ashley Tinsdale ), Ryan (Lucas Grabeel), or Kelsi (Olesya Rulin)?
High School Musical 3 offers a different perspective on teen lifeother than the sex driven, pot smoking, loser dramatization weoften see in theatres. It is refreshing to see teens portrayed ashuman beings that do think about what they want to be in life, which college to go to, and how will they accomplish their goalsand dreams. Disney does it again with High School Musical’sdirector Kenny Ortega and writer Peter Barsocchini , delivering a movie that presents teenagers in a positive light.
