IT was the battle of the ladies underwear avengers yesterday at theSydney Fashion Festival.
Bonds ambassador Sarah Murdoch and Berlei face (should that bebody?) Sophie Falkiner sat in the front row of the Hot in the Citylingerie collections show, in which Lovable ambassador JenniferHawkins later took to the catwalk. Berlei began proceedings, withits segment set to The Cult's She Sells Sanctuary.
Models teamed their demure white, black and flesh-toned smalls withsequinned bowlers, cropped red military jackets and voluminouscheck skirts in Old Blighty's red, white and blue.
Crystelle upped the raunch factor with a boudoir-themedpresentation of skimpy lace and leopard print bras, knickers andnegligees. Worn with black satin bed jackets, black lace veils andjewel-encrusted harlequin masks, sexy seductress was the message.
You might think there's not a lot you can do fashion-wise with twoscraps of fabric, but you would be wrong.
Antz Pantz added yet more diversity to the show, opting for a danceroutine to Gwen Stefani's Hollaback Girl to show off
its colourful separates in bold block colours, florals and stripes.
Professional dancers did a bump and grind down the runway carryingpompoms and wearing top hats in the brand's athletic-inspiredspring-summer range.
Davenport also opted for an active-wear vibe with a collection thatfeatured plenty of nautical blue and white stripes and was worn bymodels with sweatbands, hoodies and white sneakers.
Lovable, the brand with which Hawkins has a $1million endorsementcontract, put the focus back on pretty, with bridal-inspired looksteaming lacy bras and knickers in pastel tones with whiteberibboned stockings and apricot tulle headpieces.
She opted for modesty when she closed the Lovable segment in adusty pink chiffon gown, with a hint of black lace bra peeking out.
And what better company to close the show than Australian stalwartBonds, which replicated the female athlete standoff in its currenttelevision commercial. Along with all the handclapping and bravuramoves, there were some very wearable pieces in the black and whiteof the commercial, which segued into a colourful riot of hot pink,orange and green.
