PFM Packaging Machinery Ltd has helped one of the UK's leadingproviders of clinical solutions who urgently needed to improve itsefficiency in order to fulfil high volume orders and remaincompetitive within the industry. PFM quickly installed a PFMScirocco servo-assisted, horizontal flow pack wrapping machine.

Rocialle based in South Wales, has been able to make considerablewaste reductions and cost savings as well as increase itsproductivity significantly, with the installation of the invertedweb flowrapper onto a dual input conveyor.

With an extremely hygienic construction and long dwell sealingsystem, the Scirocco is ideal for wrapping Rocialle's range ofwound care products, which are used in the health service andmedical industry.

The Scirocco can produce up to 90 packs a minute with highintegrity peelable seals for easy opening at the point of use. Thisis a key feature for Rocialle, where accuracy and hygiene isparamount, as the products are used in accident and emergencydepartments and need to be quickly accessible.

Its versatility enables it to produce a wide variety of different flow pack sizes. Its flexibility, easy cleaning, programmablescreen and automatic height adjustment make it ideal for packingalmost any medical item.

It has a cantilevered hygienic construction and is accessible onall sides. The mechanical and electrical components are keptseparately at the back of the machine, keeping the front free fromobstruction and making it quick and easy to clean at every visibleor hidden point.

The Scirocco also features a PFM patented continuous motiontransversal sealing system, which helps the machine achieve highwrapping speeds - perfect for meeting this customer's target ofproducing a minimum of eight million packs a year.

Automatic film splicing which works with either printed or plainwrapping materials allows the machine to run continuously, addingconsiderably to the overall efficiency.
An integral on line printer adds production codes and othervariable data essential for end user reference and traceability.
