Promotional Items Versus Media Advertisements

Tag : Print Items

There are many differences between the advertisement created bypromotional items and that created by the media advertisements. Themain difference, however, lies in the way each approaches thecustomers. The business gifts always stand ahead of the typicalprint or broadcast advertisements in their ability to impress thecustomers.

The promotional items are also known as goodwill ambassadors. Theyare given as rewards, prizes or a freebie to a customer. In allthese cases, they impress the customers and gain theirappreciation. Some of these gifts may be smaller or insignificantfor a customer. However, he/she regards them well, for they aregiven as a token of appreciation and an expression of gratitude. The conventional advertisements, on the other hand, can never gainsuch recognition. They are generally viewed as gimmicks by thebrand. There is always a sense of pomposity for the commercials.People view them as an exaggerated expression for selling theirproducts or services.

Promotional products have gained a good status in todays corporateworld. They are no more than cheaper freebies that are used asbaits to lure the customers towards a retail shop or an exhibitioncentre. Rather, they are used by the companies in different manner,in order to build their name in the market. Most of the companiesuse them during promotional events such as seminars, conferencesand exhibitions. They have got a number of roles to play in suchsituations. In some cases, they act as the thank-you gifts; onother occasions, for example, a conference or a seminar, they actas the utility articles. Many companies use these items as employeerewards too. In all the above cases, these articles, act as brandadvertisers.

The advertisement created by promotional items surpasses the mediaadvertisements in its ability to spread the brand name to a largerarea. There is always a limit for the exposure created by thenewspaper ad or a TV ad. They totally depend on the readership andthe viewership respectively. However, there is no such limit forthe brand advertisement created by the promo gifts. For example, take the case of a printed umbrella that is given to a customer. The umbrella can display the brand name on it as effectively as ormuch better than a typical print/broadcast advertisement. Nowconsider that the person who uses the umbrella goes out everydaycarrying this umbrella. He visits many public places such asmarket, bus stations and movie theatres. There is a huge crowdassembled in all these places. Can you imagine the scope of thebrand advertisement by this simple umbrella? To put in simplewords, these products are the most impressive and the mosteffective form of brand advertisements.
