Colombo’s Additional Magistrate yesterday ordered the sealing of the Outreach Multi Media Press and the Renaissance Publicity Co at Jampettah Street Kotahena for allegedly utilizing them for LTTE propaganda work.
Magistrate Poornima Paranagamage made the order following an application made by the Terrorist Investigation Division (TID).
The Director of the printing press Jayaprakash Tissainayagam and Jeyaprakash Vetrivelan Jaysikharan were earlier detained by the magistrate allegedly for aiding the LTTE movement and attempting to tarnish the good name of the government by publishing distorted and false propaganda.
The report alleged the TID received complaints alleging that Jeysikharan was a resident of Kallayar and a member of the LTTE intelligence movement. It alleged he had invested the funds of the LTTE movement to run the printing press in Kotahena.
Tissainayagam was alleged to be a confidante of LTTE media unit leader Swarna Rajini. The report further alleged that Tissanayagam carried out the orders of Swa rna Rajinee to tarnish the integrity of the Sri Lankan government and to propagate LTTE activities.
