Major textile trade week in Shanghai in October 2008 The speciality textile yarn and fibre trade event Yarn Expo Autumnis set for 21 - 23 October 2008 at the Shanghai InternationalConvention Centre, Shanghai, China. Yarn Expo showcases yarn andfibre products from China and around the world, including natural,manmade, speciality and fancy varieties.
As an upstream segment of the production chain, the yarn and fibreindustry requires a specialised trade event and Yarn Expo providesa convenient and ideal location for yarn and fibre producers tomeet textile manufacturers directly. Yarn Expo Autumn 2007attracted 3,700 visitors from 59 countries and regions.
Fibre and yarn are in high demand in China, as textile producerscontinue record output. For example, in the first three quarters of2007, European imports of sliced polyester to China grew 140% whileimports of wool and wool tops doubled. Wool top imports from bothJapan and the United States jumped more than 200%, while chemicalfibres imports from Australia grew 300%.
Taking advantage of a major textile trade destination
During Yarn Expo, thousands of textile manufacturers will be in theShanghai to attend Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics, one ofthe largest apparel textile trade events in the world. Exhibitorsat that show - more than 2,000 textile manufacturers - will findYarn Expo a convenient nearby destination for sourcing their yarnsand fibres. A free shuttle bus will connect the two events.
Yarn Expo features natural fibres and yarns, including cotton,wool, silk and linen/ramie; regenerated and synthetic man-madefibres and yarns; specialty products; elastic, fancy and blendedyarns and computer-related services.
Yarn Expo is organised by Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd, the Sub-Councilof Textile Industry - CCPIT, China Cotton Textile Association,China Wool Textile Association, China Chemical Fibre Association,China Bast & Leaf Fibres Textiles Association, and ChinaTextile Information Centre.
