ScanShield is a dynamic and innovative company which developsprotective military equipment. ScanShield has recently designed andconstructed a new ballistic protection system for the erection ofprotective constructions for containers, prefabs, tents, buildingsand other key assets. BALLISTIC PROTECTION OF MILITARY ASSETS
ScanShield has created a unique and quickly deployable system forballistic protection. The system is formed from a speciallydesigned tarpaulin (Coverit) attached on a rack mount (Rackit).
The system is adaptable to the different situations of urbanwarfare and protecting infrastructure and key assets. The tarpaulinis light, flame-retardant and furnished with pockets which can holdballistic protection tiles.
The tarpaulin can be easily mounted on different structures andzipped together. It provides complete and unique protection againstblast and fragment impact both from explosives and projectiles fromhandheld weapons.
The specially designed Rackit is a foldable light steel rackconstructed to hold the Coverit tarpaulin. As both our racks andtarpaulins are easily attachable, it is simple to create aprotective wall that covers the entire length of the assets to beprotected. COVERIT BALLISTIC PROTECTION TARPAULIN SYSTEM
The Coverit ballistic protection tarpaulin system is formed bylanes (95cm x 398cm) formed from fire-retardant fabrics. It isequipped with nine pockets that can hold ballistic tiles of 44cm x88cm. Its protection capability can be adjusted to withstand therelevant threat by use of various ballistic panels.
The tarpaulins are equipped with two strong lengthwise-mountedzippers for fastening, and five metal fortified rings for lashing. The total weight of a Coverit without tiles, when made from astandard 720 gr/m² fabric, is less than 7kg.
The Coverit tarpaulin system can be mounted either directly overcontainers, prefabs, observation posts, roofs, walls etc., or onthe Rackit to form a protection wall or fence. BALLISTIC PROTECTIVE WALL
The Rackit is made from 60mm x 30mm x 3mm cold rolled steel/37 and2in steel/37 pipes. It weighs less then 40kg and has an overallsize of 260cm x 76cm. When erected it stands at an angle thatleaves the top 240cm from the ground.
When the Coverit is mounted on the Rackit, six ballistic panelpockets are placed on the front, and three are hooked on the rear.By placing Rackits close together it is easy to zip mountedCoverits together. This ensures you can form a wall of anindefinite length to fully protect your tents, entrances and alleysfor VIPs, generator-isles, and other key assets.
BALLISTIC PROTECTION UNDER IMMENSE FORCE
The Coverit and Rackit were both tested by the Danish School ofEngineers at the Tranum firing range. During the test, the Coveritwas mounted with metal panels on the Rackit wall.
The test verified that the Coverit and Rackit can withstandimmensely high explosive force. An 81mm Danish mortar bomb, M/48,FA, caused no damage even when placed just 5.6m from the Rackit.
The extreme force of a 155mm H projectile, HE M107, which wasdetonated 7.5 m from the Rackit, caused scares. It did not, however, disrupt the Coverit's functionality.
It required this 155mm H projectile to be detonated just 5.6m fromthe Rackit to begin to reduce the Coverit's functionality.Furthermore, even under this immense force the position of theRackit was only altered by 5cm.
RESISTANCE TO 155MM HE M107 GRENADES
The Coverit, Rackit and steel plates remained unchanged throughoutthe test, so the impact from the explosives was accumulative. Yetthe Coverit proved it can maintain the ballistic tiles in positionafter multiple impacts from explosions of a force up to that of155mm HE M107 grenades detonated just 5m away. BALLISTIC PROTECTION FROM EXPLOSIONS
The test showed that the Rackit only suffers a minor displacementfrom explosions up to the force of a 155mm HE M107 detonated at adistance of a mere 5m. Combined with the strength of the Coverit, this ensures exceptional protection for your containers, prefabs, tents, buildings, observation posts and other key assets.
