Isaac Mizrahi Oh, how Isaac must have been bugging out when he was designing hisspring collection, aptly entitled "Swarm," and inspired by insects. And though few of us enjoy one-on-ones with, say, a beetle, theclothes were at times quite charming and consistently interesting. We particularly liked moth sheaths that featured "wings" that selfwrapped. There was a Jiminy Cricket coat - think tux with tails,er, wings - that was actually sort of elegant. A semitransparentdress revealed its construction beneath, along with green bikeshorts. Mizrahi always offers up a compelling and entertainingrunway, but perhaps this time some looks could have used anexterminator. -- Anne Bratskeir

Peter Som Som has no problem in the mixing and matching department andyesterday he did it with aplomb. Overall, most of the looks weresimultaneously classic yet hip (and lust-worthy). Ethereal fabricspaired with nubby tweeds were set off by rugged leather belts.Curvaceous draped skirts will flatter; lacquered fabric offers up asubtle shine while two crystal-laden numbers were entrance makers.Som took color to extremes - the textural play on some rose numberswas dreamy - but we really fell for the ocean-inspired combo, anazure camp shirt paired with a lagoon draped skirt. And speaking offalling, two pretty bad runway wipeouts had the fashion folksfeeling really sorry for the models. -- Anne Bratskeir

Diesel Black Gold Cool clothes touted as punk meets classic and contemporary cameprerumpled, faded and torn up without you having to do a thing! Tobe honest, the groovy duds were right on target for youthfulready-to-rumblers and included loads of denim, cummerbunds slunglow as belts, feather shrugs, men's shirting jackets, slouchy pantsand one knockout dress - a photographic image of roses with achiffon insert back. Overall, lots of fun and no ironing necessary. -- Anne Bratskeir

Jill Stuart This line's forecast for spring: partly cloudy, partly wispy, witha good chance of chiffon. The light-as-air fabric in cloudlikeshades (cream, gray, faint blue, pink) was swaddled round thebodice, then drifted down like tattered sails. A plush, slubby knittop literally cuddled round hips. 'Twas all girlie, sweet, andanchored by chunky wedge ankle straps wrapped round and round andround. Two accessories of note: the clink necklaces (massive bulkystrands that went clink, clink, clink with each step) and sheergauzy ankle warmers. Looking ethereal apparently starts from theground up. -- Joseph V. Amodio

And more...

CALVIN'S HIGH Halle Berry , Eva Mendes , Kevin Bacon and other fashionables celebrated Calvin Klein's 40th anniversarySunday, partying atop the High Line, the old elevated railway (andsoon- to-open park). It's like Fire Island (thistle, reeds, wild flowers) floating above the streets. Parkplanners hope the VIPs, seeing how stylish it is, will fight ifdevelopers decide to demo any of it. -- Joseph V. Amodio

FIRST FASHION? Michelle Obama wore a Thakoon dress at the Democratic convention, but it'sdoubtful she'll get away with any of his spring offerings. She'sabout as likely to show up in the backless apron dresses, tulle bratops or sheer lantern pants as Barack is in a DuckieBrownman-dress. -- Joseph V. Amodio
