Textile value-added sector demands ban on cotton export Updated at: 1320 PST, Saturday, July 26, 2008 KARACHI: Textile value-added sector has demanded from thegovernment clamping a ban on the export of cotton.

Fashion Apparel Forum president, Naqi Bari in a meeting of thevalue-added exporters organizations said that the survival of thetextile sector has endangered due to lower cotton production andits exports. He said that the sale of 1 million bales of cotton toIndia has been contracted, which has triggered the cotton pricesmounting to the highest peak at Rs4200 per bale, making itimpossible for the small textile mills buying cotton.
