Cat and dog skins banned from Ebay

ONLINE AUCTION SITE EBAY has decided to ban the sale of dog and cat pelts on itsGerman-language Web sites.
The move follows complaints from animal rights groups voiced thatmoggy and doggy hair was showing up labeled as other kinds of fur,particularly rabbit and mink.
The ban will be rolled out to France, Italy and Spain, with moreEuropean countries to follow. It is apparently already illegal inBlighty. But there are no plans to stop similar sales in the US.
Peter Pueschel, a program leader with the International Fund forAnimal Welfare, said in a statement that he welcomed eBay'sdecision as an important step in animal protection.
Quite why dogs and cats get special treatment is not explained, asfur (particularly its removal) must be just as important to arabbit as a cat. µ
