Cougars to swing for pillow fight record

GENEVA – The Cougars will attempt to set the record for theworld’s largest pillow fight tonight after their game againstthe Lansing Lugnuts.

After getting just more 3,000 fans last year, the Cougars arehoping to shatter the previous record of 3,648.

“I am looking forward to hopefully breaking therecord,” Cougars media relations coordinator Shawn Touneysaid. “It will be one of those exciting promotions that willbe talked about for a long time.”

Fans are encouraged to bring their own pillows as a limitedquantity will be available at the park. You can register at thepark or pre-register online at kccougars.com .

Hit parade: The Cougars pounded out 18 hits in Friday night’sgame as every hitter had at least one, including shortstop MichaelRichard, who had an RBI single in the bottom of the eight inning toextend his hitting streak to 10 games.

Good work. grounds crew: The Cougars have been looking for breaksof late and they got one in the three-run fifth inning, literally.In the inning, D.J. Hollingsworth hit a routine ground ball tosecond that hit a rough spot at the edge of the infield grasscausing the ball to jump over Great Lake Loons second basemanPreston Mattingly, allowing a run to score.

Getting on any way you can: Cougars lead-off hitter Jemile Weeksfinished the series with four hits but was able to get on base fourother times thanks to two walks and twice by getting hit bypitches. Weeks was happy to see Loons pitcher Daigoro Rondon leaveFriday night’s game. After getting plunked by Rondon twice inas many at bats, Weeks had an RBI single in the Cougars’four-run sixth.
