Gingerbread Toys hosting playday at College Heights store

On Saturday July 26 at the College Heights location of GingerbreadToys, 7086 Domano Blvd., children four years old and up are invitedto take part in a playday at the store. (Anyone younger willrequire having his or her parent participate.) The special activityis a chance to paint and take home a 4” Breyer horse. Therewill also be opportunity to check out the new toys likeremote-controlled “Morphibians” capable of driving onland and into water. The miniature kitchen sets “KitchenLittles” come with appliances, food items, dishes and even aworking toaster. Other activities and games are also planned tomake the time spent there fun. It’s second only to being a“kid in a candy store”!! Parents can observe which toysare making the biggest impact and then enjoy the annual“Christmas in July sale” which begins today at both storelocations.

Community Garden
Before heading out to the garden centre, plan to attend interestingand useful complimentary information sessions this week at theCommunity Garden, located at 1540 Milburn Avenue. The topic forWednesday July 23 at 7 p.m. is beneficial insects. Learn how toattract and shelter the bugs which can help the gardener and how todeter the pests. On Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. learn about someof the common herbs and their healing capabilities. Participantswill help prepare a salve and get to take some home.

Successful BMO Kidz Art Dayz

The Two Rivers Gallery is delighted with the overwhelming successof their two day event this month July 11 and 12. Altogether 3,200people came through the gallery which organizers describe as“a magnificent turnout!” Families participated and groupscame together covering age ranges from babies to grandparents. Morethan twenty activities inside and outside the building kepteveryone entertained. Two special highlights were creation of acolourful domed hideout and transformation of the boulevardgreenery into “Wishing Trees” as children recorded theirhopes and dreams along with some quite profound thoughts!

The gallery staff is especially appreciative of the participationby the
Bank of Montreal. Not only did the bank support them financially,many of their staff members and their families came out to helpstaff the activity stations and contributed to making the event funfor everyone.
