NSL Cotton to take up integrated project

In order to increase the quality and productivity of cotton furtherfor the economic benefit of lakhs of cotton farmers in thestate,the NSL Cotton Corporation (NCC) Private Limited had come upwith a proposal to the government to take up integrated cottondevelopment project in the state.
Under this project 38 modern ginning and pressing units at 38locations in 14 districts would be set up at a cost of Rs 380 croreby tying up 2.5 lakh farmers covering eight lakhs acre, accordingto a release here.
This proposal was put forth before State Chief Minister Y SRajasekhara Reddy by NCC Chairman Prabhakar Rao at a meeting today.
He told the Chief Minister that in the process of integrating thecotton farming, NCC proposed to tie up with the farmers to purchaethe produce and support them by arranging supply of credit,insurance, quality inputs and provide technical advisory serviceswhich would help in increasing the cotton productivity and ensureprofits to the farmers.
The Chief Minister referred the proposal to the officials of thedepartments concerned and asked them to examine and work out thedetails.
