This quilt was made for La' Quentis Ashton Lymon to commemorate hisbirth on September 29, 1984. The quilt is a checkerboard of boldred and white squares, and each white square reveals an activitythat a young boy might enjoy doing or observing, such as fishing,playing ball, riding a horse, watching a clown do acrobatics, orseeing a bear ride a scooter. Harris found her patterns in acoloring book.

In addition to the birth information for La'Quentis, a mottoreminds us that “A friend is like a rainbowalways there foryou after a storm.” Visit the Library during July and Augustand go to the lower level to view this beautiful CommemorativeQuilt.

The Albion Public Library is looking for other fabric artists whowould like to show their work. The locked showcase in the lowerlevel of the Library measures approximately 67” x 55”and has a hanging rod. If your project is larger, perhaps it couldbe folded. If you are interested in displaying a quilt or fabricart, please contact the Library.
