Out with the old Williams Stadium getting new rug

A $755,000 revamping of the Don and Nona Williams Stadium footballfield in Menomonie is taking place. Approximately 77,000 squarefeet of synthetic Astroturf and cushion layer shock pad are beingremoved and the existing asphalt pavement turf subgrade will bereconditioned, improving the turf drainage system and installingapproximately 83,500 square feet of rubber/sand fill and a 50percent monofilament, 50 percent parallel slit synthetic turf overa one-half-inch thick polypropylene drainage tile.

The work will also include minor fencing modifications, goal postreplacement, and all required components of a complete turfattachment system. The new goal posts will be adjustable for bothcollege and high school requirements. New lettering, striping andlogs will match the previous field layout. The field marking willbe for both college and high school football.

The Division of State facilities is in charge of the project andthe project contractor is ProGrass. The new field is expected to becompleted by Aug. 1.
