Ahlstrom to set up Rs.2.8 bn fabric plant in Gujarat

Singapore-based Ahlstrom Asia Holding has announced setting up of afabric manufacturing plant in Mundra special economic zone (SEZ) inKutch district of Gujarat with a proposed investment of Rs.2.8billion.
"We have done the 'bhoomi puja' (ground breaking ceremony) and theplant is expected to be operational by October next year," AjaySahni, senior business development manager, told IANS Monday.
The plant will manufacture spun bond and melt blown fabrics, whichare non-woven textiles, and will have production capacity of 12,000tonnes.
Ahlstrom Asia Holding deals in hospital supplies as face mask,cotton and sterilization wraps among others etc.
According to INDA, the US-based trade association for non-woventextiles, the global market for non-woven textiles is estimated tobe $112 billion.
The Mundra SEZ is the special purpose vehicle promoted by theRs.180 billion Adani Group.psa/vdm/vt
