Red Sky Golf Club, courtesy of Vail Resorts, was host to SalvationArmys Fifth Annual Kettle Tournament, June 5.
While the weather did not cooperate for us this year with drizzlingrain all day, our supporters, all 100 of them, showed up ready toplay for our cause. We thank all our participants for braving theelements. This support means so much to our agency. Many of ourplayers have played in our tournament for the past five years andwe thank them from the bottom of our heart for their continuedsupport. We may miss a few names here but they include, Stan andMary Ellen Cope, Gail Malloy, John Appleby, Ed Levy, Rick Pirog,Bob Rulon, Perry Longo, Larry Brooks, Belinda and Erick Monson,Nancy and Craig Denton,and Scott Young.
Straight from a major fire in Eagle, Dan Smith drove up theSalvation Armys new emergency canteen. acomplete commercialkitchen capable of serving 2,000 meals a day, it looked mightyspiffy sitting out in front of Red Skys beautiful clubhouse.
Prizes were given to the first and second teams in three differentflights matched accordingly by handicaps so plenty of playerswalked away with great prizes . We had a few close calls on ourHole In One car, a 2008 GMC Acadia, sponsored by Perry Longo of HMBrown, however no one was able to claim the car this year.
Players dressed in red to support us (our color) and the team ofBrandon Levy, Kyle Denton, Todd Pirog and Brian Bevan won handsdown in their red socks and put-together knickers. Team NationalVelvet, Carl Dietz, Bill Simmonds, Tommy Landenauer and JerryHinsel came dressed to the nines in red Kettle shirts and matchingwindshirts. Dave Peterson was the highest bidder on the CoorsBrewing open auction item. Hes taking 10 guests to an Avs gamenext year sitting in the Coors Box. Way to go, Dave, and thank youCoors Brewing Company!
