DuPont Introduces New Certified Tychem BR

PRNewswire-FirstCall — DuPont (NYSE: DD) today announced the launch of newDuPont(TM) Tychem(R) BR garment, certified to the National FireProtection Agency (NFPA) 1994 Class 2, 2007 edition standard. Thenew DuPont(TM) Tychem(R) garment is lighter weight and lesscumbersome than a traditional fully encapsulated suit. It providesincreased vapor and liquid protection, is easier and faster tochange into and is more cost- effective than traditional garments.

Tychem(R) BR meets the NFPA's highest level of protection withinthe 1994 Standard, providing first responders an increased level ofprotection when dealing with chemical, biological or radioactiveincidents.

Tychem(R) BR fabric has been successfully tested against more than240 chemicals. It provides durability and tear-, puncture- andabrasion- resistance. In addition, the new NFPA 1994 Class 2Tychem(R) BR is specifically engineered for ease of putting on andtaking off, thereby making it easy for first responders to completetheir work in even the most challenging situations.

DuPont(TM) Tychem(R) garments are tested against a broad range ofhazardous materials to determine permeation which is critical forfabrics that are exposed to hazardous chemicals. By developingfabrics that pass these tests, DuPont helps protect firstresponders and industrial workers from hazardous liquids, vapors,gases and particulates. The NFPA 1994 Class 2 Standard defines an intermediate level ofchemical, liquid and vapor protection. Class 2 garments arecertified for situations where there is an immediate danger to lifeand health and must be worn with a self-contained breathingapparatus (SCBA). Tychem(R) BR certified to NFPA 1994 Class 2 isdesigned to be used with National Institute of Occupational Safetyand Health (NIOSH) -approved Chemical, Biological, Radiological,and Nuclear (CBRN) SCBA respirators.
