At the age of 12 years, he met the late designer, Chris Seydou at atime he was dreaming of becoming a world designer.

Born into a family of eight children, Gil Toure is the son of atransport mongul in Cote d’ Ivoire. He obtained his degree inan institute of art in Paris and later had his industrial trainingwith two great designers, Paco Rabanne and I-2-3.

He set up his own label in 1999 in the most elite area in Coted’ Ivoire. Now in his thirties, Gil Toure is one of thedarling of African designers. His designs and accessories are veryexclusive and rare and he creates them with African fabrics. Forhim, his designs are a tribute to the ladies of glamour.

The young Ivorian churns out his passion honourably. He adds valueinto simple fabrics and makes them worth more than its face value.He is known to pick some of the simplest fabrics and turn them intoglamorous pieces.

When reference is made to African fashion, his name is top on thelist. The designer who says he likes to be seen as an ambassador of African designs loves people to speak well of African fashion ina universal way.

At the recently held Tendance Party, an annual fashion show held athis home country, Cote d’Ivoire, Gil was one of the 13designers whose designs graced the catwalk. We here present some ofthat wonderful show and his exceptional skill with various Africanfabrics.
