Fabric reveals human personality!

[2008-3-31]

Sometimes one feels sporty, sometimes feminine and sometimes villainous - highlighting how same silhouettes made of different fabrics can reveal various aspects of human personality designer Kiran Uttam Ghosh's presented her collection at the Lakme Fashion Week (LFW).

"Aptly titled `An Eye For I' the line is a tribute to this truism that two different fabrics can instantly change one person," Ghosh told IANS after the show.

"The line aims to underline the subtle nuances of each one of us - at times you feel tom boyish, sometimes you feel very feminine and sometimes like a vamp. And one would find same silhouettes made of different fabrics completely changing the look. While one would make you look girly the other would make you look very svelte," she explained.

The collection offered jerseys with racer backs, angarkha with Swarovski crystals down centre front crease, dresses of varied styles and designs.

This apart there were pants, jackets, deconstructed jersey dresses, cowl dresses, knitted dresses, dolman sleeves dresses, wrap dresses, saree style yoke tunic, felt jackets, cowl kaftans, waist coats, wrap tops, Indigo dye Shibori dress and slip dresses.

The line marked lots of layering and scarves were used to embellish the line. "Layering is done keeping in mind the winter season."

The show kick started and concluded with two models attired in same silhouettes made up of different fabrics sashaying down the runway.

"Eight years ago I started with chiffon, heated press pleats and now have evolved to knits. One finds a lot of racer backs because I have borrowed it from sports wear, as sports always relaxes."

The colour palette varied from deep indigos, khaki, deep forest greens, teals to nudes and camel. Fabrics include soft georgettes and silk knits juxtaposed with men's suiting fabric.

Commenting on the line, stylist Anaita Adjania Shroff said: "The collection was very harmonious. Lots of layering and racer backs were a treat for the eye. I just loved Kiran's work."
