China bag ban boosts fabric industry

Global and regional plastics futures prices from the London Metal Exchange are given in the table below.

China’s non-woven fabric industry is benefiting from the government decision to ban plastic bags thinner than 0.025mm from 1 June.

Fujian Refining & Petrochemical Co is due to start up its 12m tonne/year refinery in Quanzhou, Fujian province, in August, which has a 400,000 tonne/year polypropylene (PP) unit and an aromatics complex.
