Problems still in yarn production data

The National Bureau of Statistics has forecast that China's January through February 2008 yarn output increased 7.8 percent to 2,808,032 tons. Cotton yarn output is reported to have expanded 10 percent to 2,267,691 tons -- cotton yarn is defined as yarn containing at least 95 percent cotton fiber. Blended yarn output is forecast at 329,763 tons, which reflects a 5.2 percent reduction in output -- blended yarn is defined as yarn containing at least 50 percent cotton fiber. MMF yarn output was up 10.4 percent to 210,583 tons.
