SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION: The Department is submitting theproposed information collection to OMB for review, as required bythe Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995 (44 U.S.C. Chapter 35, asamended).
This Notice is soliciting comments from members of the publicand affected agencies concerning the proposed collection ofinformation to: (1) Evaluate whether the proposed collection isnecessary for the proper performance of the functions of theagency, including whether the information will have practicalutility; (2) Evaluate the accuracy of the agency's estimate of theburden of the proposed collection of information; (3) Enhance thequality, utility, and clarity of the information to be collected;and (4) Minimize the burden of the collection of information onthose who are to respond; including the use of appropriateautomated collection techniques or other forms of informationtechnology, e.g., permitting electronic submission of responses.
This Notice also lists the following information:
Title of Proposal: FHA-Insured Mortgage Loan Servicing Involvingthe Claims and Conveyance Process, PropertyInspection/Preservation.
OMB Control Number, if applicable: 2502-0429.
Description of the need for the information and proposed use:FHA insurance is an important source of mortgage credit for low andmoderate-income borrowers and their neighborhoods. It is essentialthat FHA maintain a healthy mortgage insurance fund throughpremiums charged the borrower by FHA along with Federal budgetreceipts generated from those premiums to support HUD's goals.Providing policy and guidance to the single family housing mortgageindustry regarding changes in FHA's program is essential to protectthe fund. The OMB information requests referred to below provideHUD's policy and guidance. This information collection request forOMB review seeks to combine the requirements of three existing OMBcollections under this collection. The OMB collections are asfollows; OMB collections 2502-0268 "Request for OccupiedConveyance", 2502-0349 "Certified Eligibility for Adjustments forDamage or Neglect" and 2502-0436 "Mortgagee's Request for Extensionof Time".

Estimation of the total numbers of hours needed to prepare theinformation collection including number of respondents, frequencyof response, and hours of response: The number of burden hours is692,304, the number of respondents is 223, the number of responsesis 614,728, the frequency of response is on occasion, and theburden hour per response is from less than a minute to 4 hoursdepending upon the activity.
Status of the proposed information collection: This is anexisting collection (OMB 2502-0429) that will be revised.
