VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - Sept. 4, 2008) -Blackstone Ventures Inc. (TSX VENTURE:BLV) reports that a drillcrew has been mobilized and drilling is underway at the Jervasvolcanogenic massive sulphide (VMS) project in northern Sweden. Theplanned initial program will consist of up to 15 drill holesdesigned to test five new electromagnetic (EM) conductors outlinedin an airborne survey completed in the fall of 2007 (PR January 7,2008). These conductors occur proximal to a 3 kilometre strikelength felsic volcanic package where recent mapping has outlinedextensive alteration and sulphide mineralization with outcropsamples assaying up to 3.6% copper and 4.5 g/t gold.
Jervas Project
The Jervas project covers the northern extension of the high-gradecopper-zinc-lead Uma belt and is situated immediately southeast ofthe past-producing Sulitjelma copper-gold mine in northern Norway. The property hosts a historic base metal resource(1) of 10 milliontonnes grading 0.46% copper with minor zinc, lead, silver, and goldbased on diamond drilling of disseminated and stringer sulphidemineralization during the 1950's and 1960's. This mineralization isthought to represent a previously unrecognized alteration zonerelated to possible undiscovered VMS deposits.
CEO for Blackstone, Dean MacEachern, comments, "The Jervas drillprogram is our first one testing our copper-zinc and copper-goldproject holdings in Scandinavia. There are several prominent EMconductors we have identified. We believe these may representmassive sulphides both at Jervas and on other projects which remainuntested. Additionally at Jervas, our recent prospecting showssignificant gold enrichment associated with sulphides, whichcertainly is value-added to any VMS target. We look forward to theresults of this first phase drill program."
