Vedanta to up iron ore capacity, eyes mining buys

MUMBAI, Sept 9 (Reuters) - India-focused mining firm VedantaResources Plc, aims to increase iron ore capacity at its Sesa Goaunit to 100 million tonnes in five years, Chairman Anil Agarwalsaid on Tuesday.
Sesa Goa, in which Vedanta owns more than half, will reach acapacity of 25 million tonnes 'in the short term', he said.
Vedanta Group was also looking to buy mining assets in India,Africa and Brazil, Agarwal said.
Earlier, Vedanta announced a restructuring by which it would formthree commodity-focused groups: copper and zinc-lead; aluminium andenergy and iron ore.
