2008 Global Trends Conference to Focus on Critical Energy Issues

Some of the nation's top energy experts and economists are slatedto headline the seventh annual Global Market Trends Conference nextmonth in Chicago, where they will lead three days of seminars anddiscussions on the most important emerging trends in technologytoday--alternative energy sources, green building, and the need forenergy efficiency in a world that's placing increasing demand onour natural resources.

Topics to be explored include how the "solar revolution" istransforming the global energy industry; how renewable energy willchange the way we live; how the United States and other countriesare rapidly adopting green building practices; and how thesetrends, coupled with market shifts in the housing and oilindustries, promise to reshape economies throughout the world.

This annual global summit draws an audience of industry leaders,scientists and professional association members eager to learn moreabout the issues and new technologies that will directly impacttheir businesses in the near future.

This year's conference includes a series of powerful educationalseminars. The three-day event will be held Sept. 10-12 at theSheraton Gateway Suites, located near Chicago's O'Hare Airport.

The conference will open with a Hedging Workshop led by John Peiserof the Newedge Group.

All of the invited speakers are recognized experts, authors andindustry notables in their fields. They include: Robert Shapiro,former U.S. Under Secretary of Commerce for Economic Affairs; MarkHopkins, director of international energy efficiency for the UnitedNations Foundation; Travis Bradford, president of the PrometheusInstitute for Sustainable Development; and Jerry Yudelson, afounder of today's green building movement and president ofYudelson Associates LLC.

Also giving presentations are Kateri Callahan, president of theAlliance to Save Energy; Howard Learner, president and executivedirector of the Environmental Law & Policy Center, PhilipNichols, Ph.D., associate professor of legal studies and businessethics at the Wharton School of Business at the University ofPennsylvania; Ernie Goss, Ph.D., professor of economics atCreighton University; and Kenneth Simonson, chief economist for theAssociated General Contractors of America.
