Dr. Eliaz' work with modified citrus pectin (MCP) began more than adecade ago. It has grown to a worldwide effort and has culminatedin a joint study with the US Department of Agriculture,Agricultural Research Service and the Children's Hospital, ZhejiangUniversity School of Medicine, Republic of China. In this study, using MCP (an oral supplement) allowed seven children, ages 5 to12, who were suffering from severe lead poisoning to leave thehospital and go home, free of toxic lead poisoning. The study waspublished in the July/August 2008 issue of Alternative Therapies inHealth and Medicine, a peer-reviewed publication. MCP is a naturalcompound made from the peel of citrus.

The major breakthrough of the study is that MCP is the firstgentle, natural, safe and effective chelator of heavy metals forchildren. Historically, chelation has been the tool used todetoxify the body from lead and other dangerous metals. However, due to the fact that traditional chelating could also strip thebody of its essential minerals like zinc, magnesium and calcium, itwas controversial, especially for children. Finally, there is asubstance that ameliorates this problem. MCP is a safe, effectivealternative that selectively binds to the heavy metals, rather thanessential minerals, and can be administered orally. Pectin is asoluble fiber extracted from the pith of citrus peels.

"We are very pleased with the results of our study helping childrenwith severe lead poisoning," said Dr. Eliaz. "Toxicity from heavymetals is a global problem, particularly in developing countriesand now there is actually something that we can do about it -safely."

The modified citrus pectin used was PectaSol MCP (EcoNugenics,Santa Rosa, CA, www.econugenics.com). PectaSol has been modified sothat it can act quickly and easily bind tightly to lead after oralconsumption. Once in the bloodstream, MCP binds to lead, which isthen excreted in the urine. The medical personnel at the hospitalmonitored the blood lead levels of the children who had receivedthe MCP and the researchers observed both a significant decrease inblood serum lead levels and an increase in urine lead levels.

Since the study, Dr. Eliaz has not sat on his laurels. He hascontinued to improve this chelation process by formulating the MCPwith modified alginates from the seaweed Kelp. This new complex, called PectaSol Chelation Complex, works to clear thegastrointestinal and circulation systems preventing recirculationand redistribution of toxins and efficiently removing them from thebody without any adverse side effects. Results of the use of thisformula have been reported in case studies from his clinic onpatients with chronic aliments and was recently published in aninternational peer reviewed journal, ForschendeKomplementarmedizin.

"Removing toxic heavy metals is essential to any type of diseaseprevention -- which is why our studies are such uplifting news,"added Dr. Eliaz.

Increased public awareness has reduced lead poisoning in the US,but the CDC reports that an estimated 310,000 children under theage of 5 have higher than desirable blood-lead levels in thiscountry.

Unfortunately, the consequences of this immersion can be seen ineverything from chronic pain and high blood pressure to a varietyof neurodegenerative conditions -- and most notably, cancer. Evenif exposure is limited to miniscule amounts at a time, these metalscan build up gradually in bone and soft tissue, manifesting as anynumber of very serious conditions down the road.

This is why this study is such a breakthrough and childrenthroughout the world will benefit from it. For a free report onchelation, please log ontowww.betterhealthpublishing.org/chelationreport.
