STS drum handling trollies aid efficiiency, safety

Most companies have an old, yellow, hard-to-use counterbalancedunit designed in the 1960s.
There were lots of problems with these old units, said STS tomanufacturingtalk; the main one being the rear castors causing itto be hard to push and manoeuvre.
All STS de-palletisers comply with the Manual Handling Regulationsand suit a whole range of drums, from 50-210 litres, steel orplastics.
The novel Side-Shift arrangement on the DTP04 allows the unit toaccess drums of all types and sizes even if they are placed in thecentre of the pallet.
The DTP05 offers a solution where drums are always positioned atthe corner of the pallet.
A grit blasted, zinc primer and double powder coated finish featurethe units.
The de-palletiser range is also available with an Ex-rating forZoned areas and in full stainless steel.
STS offer its DTP07 Counterbalanced unit on a free seven dayon-site trial.
* Ex-Rated Drum Weighing and Rotator Unit - the STS Ex Drum Rotatorunit with integral Ex weighing system, is claimed to be the mostversatile and accurate on the market.
The drum rotator can handle all drums from 50-205 litres, steel orplastics.
STS said it is really important to have this versatility becauseone does not know what sizes or types of drums need to be handledin the future.
STS technical director, Simon Studer, said: "We like to think aheadof what our customers will need and ensure we cater for this in ourdesigns".
The weighing system uses four digital shear beam load cells toweigh the contents of the drum.
The large LCD display is mounted on a swivel bracket, so that theoperator can turn the display to the optimum viewing position.
