Sun Chemical Signs Partnership Agreement With Fogra At Drupa

Sun Chemical has signed a partnership contract with Fogra, thegraphic technology research association based in Munich, Germany,to contribute to the association's activities in the certificationof offset print shops according to Process Standard Offset (PSO).
The contract, signed at drupa 2008, outlines Sun Chemical's role inthe partnership, which includes assisting print shops to meet thedemands of the international print standard ISO 12647-2. Thisstandard is applied when preparing colour separations forfour-colour offset printing or when producing four-colour prints byheatset web, sheetfed or continuous forms process printing. Bothparties agreed to cooperate worldwide except in German-speakingcountries, where Fogra has existing arrangements in place.
Meeting the ISO 12647-2 standard enables printers to streamlinetheir internal workflow and produce prints of the highest offsetstandards. Dr Eduard Neufeld, managing director, Fogra, said: "Weexpect our PSO activities to take a significant step forward overthe coming months. Fogra cooperates with companies in order topromote the worldwide use of ISO 12647. Sun Chemical has a wealthof experience and expertise in offset printing from all over theworld which will bring considerable benefit to our activities."
Felipe Mellado, corporate vice president and group managingdirector for Sun Chemical Europe, added:
"We are proud to enter a partnership with Fogra, one of the leadingresearch organisations in the graphic arts industry, and lookforward to adding value to this important project.
