Alcoa Wheel and Transportation Products is pleased to announce apartnership with the Greater Dayton Regional Transit Authority, oneof the oldest bus fleets in the nation. Greater Dayton RegionalTransit Authority is Ohio's 4th largest public transit system withover 11 million passenger trips a year. Its fleet includes dieselbuses, electric trolley buses, Project Mobility vans and buses andWright Flyer street cars. To add to Greater Dayton's fleet, 78 newGillig Corporation buses ordered will have Alcoa Dura-Bright(R)wheels with XBR(R) Technology. Previously, this had been an allsteel wheel fleet. With the change to Alcoa aluminum wheels,Greater Dayton Regional Transit Authority will experience thebenefits of aluminum wheels including one piece forged strength,lower maintenance costs, since the wheels can be cleaned with justsoap and water and a reduction in fuel costs due to the lighterweight of the wheels. Dura-Bright(R) wheels with XBR(R) Technologynever need polishing and won't crack, chip, peel or corrode. Theroll-out of the new buses will take place over the next threeyears.
