Opening a regional distribution centre on Wednesday, Normet AsiaPacific regional director Bill Reid said the company was attractedto Adelaide by its location and the availability of experiencedstaff.
"Adelaide is fast becoming one of the mining hubs of the world,"Reid said.
"Increasing demand for resources and rising commodity prices aredriving growth, and we are proud to be part of this growingresource industry here in Adelaide.
"The resources industry is a crucial industry for Australia andAdelaide is centrally located with excellent road, shipping and airfreight services that enable us to effectively serve theunderground mining industry throughout the country."
Normet produces a range of equipment for the global undergroundmining market including mining and tunnelling equipment, transportvehicles and underground light vehicles.
South Australian Deputy Premier Kevin Foley said Normet'sinvestment would allow it to take advantage of the opportunitiespresented by the proposed expansion of the Olympic Dam copper anduranium mine and new mining developments throughout the state.
