Grenade attack in Doda claims one life, injures two

DODA: A grenade attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Doda District killeda police official and left two others injured.

According to the police, two militants attacked struck at thedistrict police headquarters in Doda, while police officials werehaving their meals.

The two grenades were lobbed, but only one exploded.

Manzoor Ahmed, 24, a Special Police Officer (SPO), succumbed to hisinjuries in hospital.

The police have launched a search operation in the area, but noarrests have been made so far.

The Deputy Commissioner of Doda said such attacks were expected aselections in Kashmir draw near.

"I have stated earlier also that such incidents are bound tohappen. The elections are about to happen and the enemy is alwayson the lookout for a suitable target to strike. It is the duty ofthe people that they become vigilant and take proper care andprecaution so that such incidents can be avoided. It is the duty ofboth security forces and people to take care," said Khursheed AhmedBhat, Doda's Deputy Commissioner.
