Timken updates its Bearing Selection Guide

The Timken Company has released an updated versionsof its Bearing Selection Guide for users including originalequipment manufacturers, distributors, students and engineers. Thenew electronic guide, Version 3.0, contains engineeringcalculations and a database of more than 5,000 bearings, includingtapered, spherical, cylindrical and needle roller bearings, as wellas ball bearings.

The software program is an interactive tool that enables users toselect the most appropriate Timken bearings for a givenapplication. The program provides users a reliable, easy-to-usemethod for building an application model and selecting the rightbearings to satisfy specific dimension and performancerequirements. The new version offers improvements to previouslyavailable functions including engineering calculations, searchcapabilities and average bearing life predictions. Additionally,designers are able to share the applications created with a localTimken representative or authorized distributor for furtherdiscussion on alternative scenarios and selection recommendations.

The program, which is compatible with a number of Microsoft Windowsplatforms, is available in English, French, German, Italian,Spanish and Chinese. To assist users, bearing selection scenariosand a detailed user manual are available.

"This new guide is designed to simplify the bearing selectionprocess for customers. It's also an alternative to using hard-copycatalogues when searching for bearings," said Ravi Bhatia, Timken'svice-president .
