Travel for commuters was difficult in Toledo and adjacent counties.Many roads were impassable. The biggest problem in Toledo was I-475at Corey Road which remained closed throughout the morning rushhour. Officials said nearly three feet of water covered theinterstate highway. ODOT spokesperson Theresa Pollick told 13abcthat they simply have nowhere to pump the water but crews are onscene and it's hoped that the road will be re-opened after the rainstops later today.
Outlying counties report few problems. Checks with Monroe, Fultonand Lenawee County Sheriff's dispatchers turned up reports of a fewscattered road closings because of high water. There was alsobasement flooding in Fulton County.
As of 6:30am today, Toledo Edison reported 280 customers werewithout power. Electric customers in Michigan were hit harder withas many as 100,000 customers in the dark overnight. Storms torethrough Michigan last night and early today.
A flood warning remained in effect for Lucas County through 10:15a.m. Thursday.
A mobile home park in Holland reportedly took on high waterovernight. No reports of injuries there.
A car hydroplaned on Albon near Airport and flipped over. The carlanded upside down on a gas meter and it took several hours forcrews to secure the scene. The road was reopened about 6:30 a.m.
The high winds left many power lines down throughout both Ohio andMichigan. At a 7 a.m. check, Toledo Edison is reporting 450customers without power. In Michigan around 156,000 customers arewithout power this morning. Consumers Energy is reporting 2,900customers in Lenawee County and 850 customers in Monroe County arein the dark.
