GIDUE donates a flexo press unit to support the “San Zeno Packaging” Project of the renowned Graphic School in Verona
The Italian leading manufacturer of label and packaging printing machines, announces its participation in the “San Zeno Packaging Project”

The cooperation between GIDUE, the Turate-based press manufacturer, and the Graphic School of "San Zeno", Verona, has successfully begun with GIDUE’s donation of a brand new flexo press.

The “San Zeno Packaging Project” started in 2001 with the installation of a whole production line of digital polymers (CDI by EskoArtwork and Cyrel® FAST by DuPont) and of a new 5-colour printing machine for flexible packaging by Uteco. By accomplishing the Project, the objective of the School Board is to become the leading professional education institution for operators in this sector.

In order to support this ambitious programme, Federico d'Annunzio, President of GIDUE, and Tiziano Zanotti, Director of the Graphic School in Verona, have recently signed a joint agreement, aimed at supporting the project development and the educational activities of the School.
The first point of the new partnership was successfully completed during the month of March 2008, with the donation and installation of a new narrow-web flexo printing machine by GIDUE. The unit, a Quadra machine, 370mm width, was installed in the printing department of the school for the production of self-adhesive labels with UV inks.

The agreement also includes other activities to be performed in the following months, such as:

• Training of GIDUE technical and printing team, carried out by the teachers of the School - led by Mirko Salzani - and focused on the technical and technological aspects of offset, gravure and flexo printing processes;

• Identification of two students, demonstrating high level printing skills, to support GIDUE technicians during the live demonstrations to take place during the international exhibition Drupa 2008;

• Identification of two newly graduated graphic experts who will be offered a 6-month stage at the Turate-located company, during which they will support the company as printing technicians;

• The printing department of the school will act as demo centre for GIDUE customers;
• The School to support GIDUE in the research and development of new technical solutions and in the testing of new materials;

• Technical training to GIDUE customers who are approaching the printing processes or need advanced training sessions.

The Quadra 4-colour machine is equipped with an UV system by IST named MBS® MINICURE. The MBS® MINICURE module is a UV drying system ensuring total flexibility, as required by the flexo printing processes. The UV module installed into the San Zeno Quadra unit includes aluminium rotary reflectors, air-chilled UV modules, removable cassettes, a water-chilled counter-plate and three levels of UV power adjustment. The power is automatically regulated depending on the printing speed and taking into consideration efficiency and energy consumption. The UV system is compactly integrated into the Quadra machine.

“The successful cooperation and the feedbacks received over the years from GIDUE undoubtedly supported the results achieved by our company”, commented Enzo Colapinto, General Manager of IST Metz Italy. “However, IST Metz doesn’t limit its activities in the field of production: in 2000 we opened a competence centre for UV printing, under the name of ‘UV Transfer Centre’. The aim of the centre is to support the printing industry with training, trouble-shooting, special research and general consultancy related to the UV business”.

The installation of the Quadra press machine inside the “San Zeno” Graphic School once more demonstrates GIDUE’s great commitment for the progress and educational development of the printing industry, which has in this Italian School a strategical point of reference.
