PTC(R) (Nasdaq: PMTC), The Product Development Company(R), todayannounced that Black & Decker, a leading global manufacturerand marketer of power tools and accessories, hardware and homeimprovement products, and technology-based fastening systems, hasselected Windchill for strategic product lifecycle management (PLM)initiatives in its Industrial Products Group. The implementationincludes Windchill PDMLink(R), Windchill ProjectLink(TM), WindchillPartsLink(R), and Windchill Enterprise Systems Integration (ESI) toSAP(R). Black & Decker will also take advantage of PTC servicesand educational offerings.

To sustain its leadership position as the world's largest producerof power tools and accessories, Black & Decker required a PLMsolution that would enable it to accelerate time-to-market withoutcompromising quality and innovation. Equally important was thecompany's desire to maximize its technology investment by embracinga solution that would support the complex collaboration and datamanagement requirements of its heterogeneous CAD environment andglobal product development initiatives. Looking to improve thecapabilities of the company's existing product data management(PDM) solution to successfully address these challenges, Black& Decker began searching for a replacement PLM system.
