dSPACE GmbH and VaST today announced a collaboration insimulating automotive and AUTOSAR-compliant software on virtualhardware platforms. The goal of the collaboration is to closelycouple dSPACE's automotive software development tools TargetLinkand SystemDesk with VaST's virtualization tools COMET® andMETeor®. Users of these tools can replace hardware prototypeswith virtual system prototypes to simulate and validate automotivesoftware applications on early in the design flow.
The combined development tools provide accurate timing and deeperperformance visibility in the hardware and software operations forsingle or networked ECU systems. Developers can accurately profileand quantify system behavior for time-critical applications.Details such as execution times, scheduling, and interruptlatencies can be analyzed and quickly refined early in the designflow, which results in a much better hardware and software design.
TargetLink and SystemDesk from dSPACE
The production code generator TargetLink generates highly efficientC code directly from Simulink®/Stateflow® models and isused in numerous production projects all over the world. Severalmodes for simulation support the development process, e.g. aprocessor-in-the-loop simulation where the application code isexecuted on an embedded processor.
SystemDesk is a tool that supports users in developing software forsingle electronic control units (ECUs) and networks of ECUs byassisting them when they model, plan and integrate complexdistributed software systems. The software system can be validatedduring different development steps by executing the system model inan offline simulation on the host PC.
Both tools support the development of software according to theAUTOSAR standard.
COMET and METeor from VaST
COMET is a system engineering tool enabling the creation of virtualsystem prototypes (VSP). With COMET, designers create and simulatehigh-speed, cycle-accurate models of ECUs and networked ECUs, thenanalyze and optimize performance while running real softwareapplications. METeor is an interactive software developmentenvironment for VSPs created with COMET. With METeor, softwaredevelopers simulate, debug, and develop better-quality softwareearly in the design flow.
About VaST
VaST drives electronics virtualization. The company isfundamentally changing the electronics industry by breaking thedependency on hardware prototypes. With VaST, electronics companiesdevelop virtual system prototypes-timing-accurate, high-speedsimulation models of their electronic systems-for use in design andsupply chain enablement. Using virtualization, customers developsoftware before hardware and enable early software development byecosystem partners which cuts time-to-market by 8 months or more.
VaST's customers include worldwide leaders in automotive, consumer, and wireless markets. VaST is headquartered in Sunnyvale,California with sales and support offices worldwide.
About dSPACE
dSPACE is the world's leading producer of engineering tools fordeveloping electronic control units (ECUs) and mechatroniccontrols. The company was one of those that opened up this marketsegment some 20 years ago, and has remained one of its drivingforces to this day. Using dSPACE systems, manufacturers ofcontrollers and electronic control units (ECUs) dramatically reducetheir development times and costs, and noticeably increase theirproductivity. There are now more than 800 dSPACE employeesworldwide. dSPACE has subsidiaries in France, the USA, the UK, andJapan. Thanks to numerous distributors, dSPACE products areavailable to customers throughout the world.
