Kitamura Machinery , the premier manufacturer of precision horizontal, vertical and5-axis machining centers , announced today that the company will be debut itsMycenter-HX1000i Horizontal Machining Center at IMTS 2008 inChicago, September 8 – 13. Attendees will be able to see the new machining center, whichprovides both the high precision and volume manufacturingcapabilities needed for large parts production for the aerospace,heavy construction, oil field machining, automotive, powergeneration and similar industries, in the Kitamura Machinery booth,A-8054.
The Mycenter-HX1000i is designed specifically for manufacturers andjob shops that need to produce close tolerance parts from thetoughest of materials. Its induction-hardened, solid box waydesign, combined with the rigidity of high grade Meehanite casting,offers the stiffness needed for true high precision, hard millingof larger parts. Guide ways are equipped with ultra high precisiontwin ballscrews and twin servo motors that provide the capabilityof running speeds of 1,417 inch/minute. With a net weight of126,104 Lbs and Linear scale feedback on all axes as a standardfeature, the Mycenter-HX1000i has accuracies of ± 0.000079 inches Full Stroke and repeatability of ± 0.000039 inches. Both are standout, offering ultra-high precisionfor a machine of this size and weight.
Standard is an efficient 40HP A/C spindle motor with a 4-speedgeared head. The geared head enables the Mycenter-HX1000i to reachfull power at 235rpm with output maximum torque of 897.5 ft-lb. An8,000rpm spindle (12,000rpm option) with a dual contact designoffers the benefits of greater machining rigidity, improved surfacefinish, higher cutting accuracy and extended cutting tool life.
The Mycenter-HX1000i utilizes an efficient positive 180-degreerotating pallet change system that provides optimum operatorconvenience in pallet accessibility and the loading/unloading ofwork pieces. Table size is 39.37 ” x 39.37 ” allowing for accommodation of huge parts with the 1 ° indexer positively positioned to within ± 1 arc/sec by a powerfully rigid Curvic coupling for optimumaccuracy and stability. A full fourth axis is an available option.
With a standard 150-Tool ATC (200 Optional), the Mycenter-HX1000imaximizes tool handling efficiency using Kitamura ’ s exclusive fixed pot ATC system. In this system, each tool isalways returned to the same tool pot; the next tool to be used iskept ready in a “ stand-by ” tool pot, minimizing tool change time. Tool-to-tool time is justthree seconds, while chip-to-chip time is 7 seconds.
