Sehome Car Wash Burglarized, Suspect Caught

A recovered duffel bag leads to the arrest of a burglary suspect.
Bellingham Police recovered a duffel bag in the 2900 block of Ellisstreet at about 9:30 A.M. this morning. When the duffel bag wasinspected, a 9 mm handgun along with power tools and electronicequipment were discovered inside. The property had not yet beenreported stolen.
A short time later the Bellingham Police Department received areport of a burglary to the Sehome Car Wash at 839 Lincoln Street. This burglary apparently occurred sometime overnight. In theprocess of investigating this report it was realized that theproperty in the duffel bag had been stolen in the burglary at thecar wash.
The investigation revealed that the suspect of the burglary livesat 2915 Ellis Street, near where the duffel bag was discovered.
By the authority of a search warrant, the SWAT Team gained entranceinto the residence and made contact with the suspect and took himinto custody.
Arrested was Brian Daniel Meeks, a 31 year old Bellingham resident. Meeks was booked into the Whatcom County Jail on charges ofburglary 1st degree, possession of stolen property 1st degree and afelon in possession of a weapon.
