CBSSports.com todaylaunched an all-new version of their College Fantasy Football game,continuing to be the only major fantasy sports service providerwith a collegiate fantasy football game.
While CBSSports.com first launched College Fantasy Football in2005, the 2008 version of the game marks an important point in theevolution of the product as for the first time individual playernames will be used. Prior to this season, CBSSports.com CollegeFantasy Football used school names and positions, such as "FLORIDAQB" and "MICHIGAN RB" in lieu of actual player names.
"As the leader in the fantasy sports business, we're constantlylooking for ways to distinguish our service from the competition.Offering a product surrounding the immensely popular sport ofcollege football is yet another example of this goal," said JasonKint, Senior Vice President and General Manager, CBSSports.com. "Webelieve combining fantasy sports and college football will givefans and alumni yet another reason to get involved in the sport,increasing the popularity of college football much in the same wayfantasy sports has affected professional football."
CBSSports.com College Fantasy Football is once again offeredcompletely free of charge and will allow users to recruit a team ofcollege football players from any of the 120 Division I programs orcustomize their player pool to include any conference they choose(two minimum). Users can create a private group and invite theirfriends or simply join a public group and play against collegefootball fanatics from around the globe, competing head-to- headfor the season championship. (All groups consist of ten teams)
CBSSports.com College Fantasy Football will be run using the samesoftware and product design as the rest of the award-winningfantasy sports products on CBSSports.com, including those inprofessional football, baseball, basketball, hockey, golf and autoracing. The CBSSports.com Commissioner product has won everyFantasy Sports Trade Association (FSTA) award for best FantasyCommissioner Product since the association was founded in 1997.
As is the case with the entire suite of CBSSports.com Fantasyproducts, College Fantasy Football will feature exclusive playerupdates, columns, breaking news and blogs from the entire team ofaward-winning CBSSports.com fantasy sports writers as well as fromCBSSports.com national columnists and senior writers such as DennisDodd (Senior Writer, College Football).
Additionally, CBSSports.com College Fantasy Football will feature avideo player on the homepage.
