With the growing need for efficiency and flexibilityduring machine design and commissioning, Weidmuller is pleased toannounce FieldPower -a universal decentralized power distributionsystem. FieldPower is designed for industrial machineryapplications, primarily for conveyor and packaging equipment, wherethere is a need to distribute power over extensive distances viamultiple power drops to peripheral equipment such as motors,starters and other electrical devices.
The FieldPower product offering consists of multiple all-in-oneenclosed PowerBoxes (Standard, XL, Fuse, and On/Off) thatincorporate an innovative Insulation Displacement Connection (IDC)system to quickly tap into uncut power cable and maintain an IP 65rating. FieldPower is designed to replace the traditional method ofhard wiring utility distribution boxes for individual power drops.Each PowerBox can be mounted at any point on the machine with acontinuous, uncut 5-pole (max.) power cable placed inside. Flat orround (TC-ER rated) cable types can be used together in a singlePowerBox for added flexibility. FieldPower is unique in that nopre-packaged cable lengths with connectors are required. Simplyorder a roll of cable and cut to the required size. This enhancesthe flexibility of the system, resulting in dramatically shortenedinstallation time and a direct cost savings.
The PowerBox plug-in connectors are equipped with Weidmuller'sreliable new "Push-In" termination technology. Twin connectors arealso available to provide dual feeder circuit distribution. Forexample, one or two starters/frequency converters or other loadscan be connected to the main contact blocks. In addition, a fuseoption is available, with blown fuse indication to protect loadsand outgoing feeder circuits. The PowerBox is rated at600V/30A/14-10AWG.
Weidmuller's FieldPower system comes with a comprehensive range ofaccessories and options to suit individual applicationrequirements. These include pre-fabricated connection cableassemblies, plug-in connectors, rectangular connectors, wire-endferrules, IP65 seals, maintenance switches, and installation toolsfor cutting and stripping wire.
