Many solutions have been proposed to help solve our energydifficulties, but none have been as doable as the recentlyannounced plan of oil tycoon T. Boone Pickens. In a nutshell: Usenatural gas instead of oil to fuel transportation and use windpower instead of oil and coal to produce electricity.
This is not a final solution, but it is a stepping stone, and asKarl Von Clausewitz said, "the greatest enemy of a good plan is thedream of a perfect plan." Solar power, plug-in hybrids and hydrogenare still a ways off. However, wind power know-how is here, andnatural gas vehicles are already in use. With its lower cost,potential tax credit, lighter emissions and large domestic supply,the benefits of natural gas are myriad.
We've been looking for something to collectively grab hold of, andthis could be the plan that takes us past the tipping point.
