* Powerful software - Wands said that the 'key' to achievingconsistently exceptional tool performance has been combiningingenious tool design with good quality materials and versatilemachine tools.
He explained: "We were up to capacity on our design capability andneed to create more design time.
The most efficient way to do this was to utilise the powerfulSchneeberger software as the 'power-house' of our designdepartment, because it gives such easy programming of even complextools".
Wands added: "Additionally, of course, it allows us to convert thedrawing into a tool easily".
Wands said that the design capability of the Quinto software,particularly the e- grind feature, allowed Scorpion to produce evenmore complex tooling and it reduced programming time significantly.
It also made a significant difference to the development, forexample, of extra long and high speed tools with different helixes,etc.
Wands said: "Our experience of the machines we already have, andthrough them of Schneeberger itself, was such that installing athird machine from the company was the safe, as well as theobvious, choice".
