Wor-Wic Offers Computer Engineering Technology

Students at Wor-Wic Community College will have at least one moreoption when it comes to choosing a major this Fall. The newprogram, Computer Engineering Technology, will be a blend ofWor-Wic's current computer science and electronics degree programs.

Educators say, by blending elements of both programs, studentsentering the electronics industry will now have more computerskills to offer, along with their electronics skills.

The Dean of Occupational Education Timothy Sherman says, "Jobs thatwere primarily electronics based, as far as skill level and all,employers now want them to have a certain level of computer skill,what it does is allow an individual to work through issues, be moreindependent, more empowered."

Along with the electronics background, from a computer standpoint,students are expected to learn everything from computer basics totrouble-shooting potential problems.
