PORALU MARINE, which has lately participated in the 2nd"Marinas and Sustainable Development" National Meetingsorganised at Brest (France) on 11th and 12th June by the IDEALassociation of local authorities and Finistère GeneralCouncil, intends to show its commitment to sustainable development.
Respect for the environment as well as its internal organisationare the main themes, making PORALU MARINE the 1st PME [smallcap tomedcap company] from the Ain département to commit to this approach, with support from the local CCI[Chamber of Commerce and Industry] with the intention of achievingISO 14 001 certification.
Sustainable development, a major challenge for us all
According to the organisers' brief, "consideration of sustainable development in laying outmarinas is one of the increasingly important considerations inpolicies followed by local authorities and their various contacts, whether they be public or private". This is why the exhibition wants to be a forum for exchanges whereeverybody can demonstrate by sharing his experience that it ispossible to "develop economic activities and tourism around the marinawhile preserving the environment in which they are evolving" .
This meeting is also the occasion to return to the problem whichthe increasing demand for moorings is posing in marinas and todiscuss new solutions proposed to meet this. A scenario in whichPORALU MARINE can air its expertise with the "Mobi-Deck"concept, a system of floating mobile pontoons shown for the firsttime on 3rd November 2007 at Cap d’Agde (34) which provides again of 30 to 40% of moorings over the same harbour area*.
The 2 event days have allowed some 300 national decision makers tomeet sailing professionals such as PORALU MARINE.
PORALU MARINE, an eco-company
PORALU MARINE, which is today acknowledged as a skilled andinnovative professional in its field is now trying also to be aresponsible player by controlling the impacts of its business. AsBruno BELIN, Technical Manager at PORALU MARINE, explains,"the ecological impact is a major variable largely built in toour design process, whether this be in terms of the weight ofmaterial used or in the choice of materials and this is why all theproducts which we place on the market today can have a 2ndlife".
Indeed, aluminium, chosen by POALU MARINE as an exclusive materialfor its goods, is infinitely recyclable and its conversion takesless energy compared with production from raw materials. Thepolyethylene from which the floats are made, the different plasticparts and the synthetic materials forming the planking are alsorecyclable and can be used in building and automobileconstruction… "Our commitment is not limited to production, it embodiesconsideration of the end of the product's life. Infrastructure dismantling is a fundamental phase and we will lookparticularly carefully at dispatching the various items to theappropriate sites, whether they were designed and installed byPORALU MARINE or not", emphasised Bruno BELIN.
